A New Kind of Home: Lael Homes
By Denise Heidel
For over 17 years, husband/wife team Andrew and Kelly Lael have worked together as a general contractor/interior designer dynamic-duo power-couple. Operating as Lael Building Group since 2011, the Laels recently re-branded their business to better reflect who they are—Lael Homes.
“Our new name is so much more reflective of our business,” said Kelly. “It’s our name attached to what we do—we work on homes. Andrew and I believe that everyone should have a home they love. It’s such a deeply personal matter, and we want to help people fall in love with where they live.”
While the Laels are adept at custom-built homes (Andrew has built over 300!), they also specialize in kitchen and bathroom remodeling, home additions, and overall remodeling work. “We have worked with so many families who either need to tweak their home’s footprint, or adapt things so they can age in place,” said Kelly. “Whatever the purpose of our project, the goal is to create a space that works for a family’s lifestyle and showcases their individuality.”
Indeed, as the interior designer of the business, Kelly has a gift for interpreting the needs of her client. Within a consultation, she can formulate a plan for colors, style, and function. “The important thing for me as the designer, and what I think really sets Lael Homes apart,” said Kelly, “is that I understand the construction side of things. And Andrew understands the design side. All the pretty things in the world won’t matter if the construction isn’t handled right on the front end. Because Andrew and I work so closely together and respect what each of us brings to the table, we can meet (and exceed) our clients’ expectations within the construction and design costs.”
Kitchens are called the “heart of the home” for good reason. It’s often the gathering place where families and friends reconnect, talk about what’s going on, and update one another on the events of the day. “Cabinets, countertops, backsplashes, lighting, and flooring are all about making a kitchen functional and purposeful,” noted Kelly. “We take everything into consideration as we work on kitchen remodels. We also think ahead. We want the products we use to be durable and dependable, able to withstand daily usage and wear-and-tear.”
Few rooms are as personal as a bathroom. It’s where we go for to relax with hot bubble baths, loosen sore muscles with hot showers, and prepare for the day. The Laels can create a simple half-bath off the main floor whose purpose is based on convenience…. Or they can create a bathroom that boasts of hotel-style luxury. Kelly shared, “We believe that a bathroom should have functional design while adding to a home’s value. Depending on which bathroom of the home, storage is a consideration as well as safety.”
Home Additions & Remodeling
Whether it’s a matter of adding an in-law suite or simply converting dated living areas into open-floor living spaces, the Laels have an extensive background in home additions and remodeling projects. “No one wants to move,” said Kelly. “A home remodel or addition helps people stay right where they are. It can help transform a house with added conveniences and space that works best for the family’s lifestyle. More often than not, most of our clients’ only regret about a home addition or remodel is that they didn’t start the project earlier.”
Lael Homes’ version of custom isn’t a “kit” with optional add-ons. Custom is custom! Lael Homes works with clients from design to completion and is there through every step of the process. “We understand that when clients hire us to build a custom home, they are looking for an exterior that is beautiful and requires minimal maintenance,” explained Kelly. “They also want an interior that reflects their personality. We love delivering both.”
The One-Stop Difference
Traditionally, the process of home building and remodeling requires a lot of legwork on the part of the homeowner. While picking out furniture and window treatments can be fun, the not-so-fun part is choosing cabinets, counters, and hardware. The options can be overwhelming, but with Lael Homes’ one-stop solution, the choices can be simplified based on their clients’ lifestyle, needs, and preferences.
Andrew and Kelly Lael are in the home business because they love homes. There is no job that is too big or too small. They tackle all projects with workmanship excellence and decades of experience.
